皆さんはいつも私に質問しています。正直に言うと、それは少し難しい質問だと思います。一人で勉強しました。独学って。私は１４歳の時は、アメリカの音楽なんとなく少し嫌いになりました。今、アメリカの音楽大好きですけど。偶然に、日本の音楽を聞いてみました。その時は、Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumiの番組を見ました。そしておばあちゃんの友達は日本人ですので、彼女と一緒に日本語を話すのが楽しいそうだと思いました。日本の音楽が好きになりましたけど、曲の意味が分かりませんですので、日本語を勉強して始めました。１７歳から、日本人のペンパルを探しました。一緒に言語を練習しました。大学生になって、大学に日本語を勉強したかったですが、時間がありませんでした。それでは、また一人で勉強しました。もう一度language exchange partnersを探しました。卒業したの後、フロリダからサンフランシスコに引っ越しました。英語を勉強するの日本人の友達と一緒にlanguage exchangeをしています！！練習するのが最高！毎日習っていますよ。意味分かんない漢字を見たら、辞書を使って、新しい単語を習えます！日本の音楽の歌詞も勉強します。曲を歌って、歌詞を見て、勉強出来ます。私はまだまだペラペラじゃありませんですが、いつも頑張りますよ！とにかく、毎日練習は必要ですね！一緒に勉強しましょうか？
Everyone always asks me that. Honestly, that is a bit of a difficult question. I studied by myself. When I was 14, somehow I started to dislike American music. I love it now though! By chance, I tried listening to Japanese music. During that time, I was watching Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi. My grandmother’s friend is a Japanese lady, so I thought it would be fun to talk with her in Japanese. I really started to like Japanese music, but I couldn’t understand the lyrics, so I started to study the language. When I was 17, I found some penpals. We practiced our respective languages together. When I became a university student, I wanted to study Japanese, but I didn’t have time. I started studying by myself again. Because of this, I looked for language exchange partners again. After graduating, I moved from Florida to San Francisco. I became friends with Japanese students studying English here in San Francisco and we could help each other study. Practice is the best way! I am learning every day. If there’s a Japanese word I don’t understand, I look it up, and just like that I’ve learned a new word. I also study from Japanese song lyrics. Singing and reading along with the lyrics in Japanese, I am able to study. Anyway, it’s necessary to study every day! I am still not fluent, but I am always trying my best! What advice would you give someone who is starting to learn a new language?
